So what's YOUR favorite book?

Mine is The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje. I have reread this book too many times to count, and every time I am amazed anew at how lush, lyrical, and poetic the language is. The imagery is unforgettable. This book is, to me, diaphanous... it has this diffused quality of light behind every character and scene. Just go read it already! (And then see the movie, which is equally amazing ♥)

    Not shore if I can narrow it down to just one book but some of my favoites would be: Frankenstein for its amazing charicter changes and deep insite into people of that time and the insite into humanity in general.The Hobbit because it is the top epic ever and my chidhoud bedtime story(got to love having a nerd dad).The Count of Monte Cristo has one of the deepest storys ever the main charctor is so cool so cool. Enders Game simply because Ender is the most hardcore kickbut kid in the world.And last but not least anything Edger Allan Poe. There are more but that is some that came to mind.

For the month of March, I'll be writing with the  Two Writing Teachers Slice of Life Challenge . This is my first year participating in SoL! I am excited and optimistic about it! So here goes nothing... My son is a sixth grader at the middle school I work at this year. It's a whole new adventure having a child in middle school, and at the same school as me! Slice of Life Day 29: A parting blow before spring break

Today was an early release day. Spring break begins tomorrow, and it is a beautiful, sunny, 75-degree North Carolina spring day outside. Everything seemed great to kick off an awesome break. But, ick, we had to have a faculty meeting after the kids were released. (Mostly, our faculty meetings are not terrible. They're pretty short and basic. I just have a bad attitude because of the topic of the rest of this piece.) One of my goals for this year was a classroom revamp. I spent last summer scouring yard sales, refinishing furniture, and asking for donations from local businesses, and by the beginning of this year, my classroom was a brand new place. No desks, no typical school furniture. It is beautiful. My room is a welcoming haven. My kids love having the opportunity to spread out and be comfortable. It's where we have grade level and team meetings; even my committee (which is cross grade level) meets in my room. And it's been a successful learning environment for all...
